BEAUTY SERIES | How To Apply Eyeshadow

I've found eyeshadow to be a necessary part of my make up routine everyday. I feel like it helps so much in enhancing my eye shape and color. There is a lot of different things to keep in mind, such as what eyeshadow shades are best for different eye colors, what brushes to use when applying, and how to do different looks, and some random tips I've learned over the years.

source unknown

Let's talk what colors to use

It is best to stick to the eyeshadow shades that compliment your skin tone and eye shade, and remember the time of day you are shopping for and the venue you will be at will greatly influence your eyeshadow color choice.

Day Time: It is best to target the lighter and neutral shades.

Evening: This is the time suited for experimenting as you can typically get away with stronger shades and bolder colors.

I have brown eyes, and what's nice is that brown eyes can get away with wearing almost any color of eyeshadow. If you want to really make them pop then try either green eyeshadow or pink eyeshadow. With brown eyes, you can also use blue/purple eyeshadow, and if you have gold flecks in your eyes you may want to try an eyeshadow that has a gold shimmer to it. Brown eyes can even pull-off wearing brown eyeshadow, but be careful because certain tones can look muddy against your beautiful brown eyes.

If you have blue eyes, you'll want to go after golden browns, browns with a slight purple base, taupe, and slate colored grays. Have some fun with it. Try a nice rose colored eyeshadow. The coolness from the pink/purple eyeshadow will be a really nice contrast to your blue eyes.

For you green eyed girls, go after those purple shades that will really make them pop! If you want your eyes to stand out but look more natural, you may want to try warmer mocha brown shades or warm colors with slight orange undertones. Basic eyeshadow colors for green eyes would be earth tones with slight hints of gold, taupe colors, mocha browns, and lavender-purple shades. Since most green and hazel eyes has a variety of flecks, feel free to experiment with these colors so you can find the perfect one for your eyes.

The most important thing here is, don't overdue it. Less is more. Blending is key.

Eyeshadow now comes in many styles and finishes. It is available in creams, powders, liquid and pencils. There's so much out there, that I would just try out different things and see what works best for you.
It can be frosted; matte, glitter, shimmer and some are specifically designed for drier or older skin. Many manufactures now produce eyeshadow compacts with coordinated shades of eyeshadow, typically including a light, medium and dark shade.

The ever-changing trends and fashion statements have lead us to see a rise in the use of intense eyeshadow colors. Experimenting with these intense colors on your eyes can be fun. You can test eye shadow colors on the back of your hand or your inner wrist. I've realized though, that while you can grab inspiration from runway or fashion trends, sometimes it's just not meant to be worn for normal day.

Eyeshadow application will vary greatly from person to person due to eye shape, skin types and the effect you are after, although there are a few principle points on applying eyeshadow. Light shades will generally open and highlight the eyes, giving the eyes a larger look. Dark shades will add depth and dimension, while making the eyes look smaller

To start you should grab the following items of make up

Eyeshadow (light, medium, and dark shades that suit your complexion and eye color)
Makeup Brushes (E.L.F. or SIGMA has some amazing brushes that will do a great job in blending!)
Eyeliner
Mascara
Makeup remover

It is best if you start this process as you would with your normal makeup application, by applying your usual foundation and face powder.

Begin by applying a light color from lash line to brows. Shades of ivory, beige, peach or pink are common, but other light tones can work well. Then apply a medium shade from lash line to crease. Finally, accent the crease of the eyelid with the darkest shade. Blend with a soft brush to avoid removing your eye shadow or smudging. You can apply eyeliner along the lash line and use mascara to accent your eye lashes if you like. Eye makeup remover or a damp cloth can remove smudges. Some people opt to do their eye shadow and other eye makeup before applying foundation and other makeup to allow mistakes to be tidied up more easily.

And ta da! You've now learned the basics of applying eyeshadow! If you want more technical or labor intensive (haha!) tutorials, check out youtube. There are thousands of videos there to help you out.

25 Makeup Tips to Look Younger

Stay Away From Dark Lipstick

"As we age, our lips thin. Super dark lipstick on skinny lips isn't attractive. Your best lipstick bet is the shade closest to your natural lip color or if you like color, rosy reds. Orange lipsticks tend to be aging, but pinks are not. If your lips have thinned or are super wrinkly, play up your eyes instead. A bit of lip gloss makes lips appear plumper.
Not sure what color works for you? Hit the department store counter along with a friend you trust. Try on many colors with the help of a counter person and you'll figure out quickly what shades flatter your skin tone.

Try Eye Pencils Instead of Liquid Liners

Eye pencils are softer than liquid liners, which can be harsh on aging eyes. To soften the line even more, smudge it with your fingers or use an angled makeup brush dipped in dark shadow as a smudge-y eyeliner. Don't line the inside of the eye if you have small eyes, it makes the eye appear smaller.

Make Your Eyes the Center of Attention

Enhance your eye color with eyeshadow shades that will make your eyes pop. For brown or hazel eyes, golds and browns are gorgeous. Blue eyes look great with blue-gray and lighter browns and dark eyes look fantastic with dark shades.

7 Tips for Concealing Crow's Feet (aka "Laugh Lines")

People start developing crow's feet around the eyes in their 30s. I consider my own "laughing lines" and believe they are a sign of a good life. I hope to develop many more as I grow older. But not everyone loves crow's feet. You can freeze them with Botox or fill them in with fillers (read more about these in Hollywood Secrets to Looking Younger), but there are few other non-invasive ways to conceal them or diminish the signs of them.
Find out how in How to Conceal Crow's Feet.

Don't Overdo Your Makeup

Less is more when it comes to makeup as you age. You don't want to pile on the foundation, the eyeliner and the heavy lipstick. Instead, you want to use tinted moisturizers and a lighter touch with the shadow and lipstick. Oh, and you might want to get some bangs.

Adopt a Great Skincare Routine

The key to looking younger than you is to get your skin in tip-top shape. A good skincare routine will create the illusion of youthfulness. You shouldn't just cleanse and moisturize your skin, you should also exfoliate weekly and consider antioxidants or Vitamin A products. Super hydrating masks can do wonders to mature skin (see my list of the Best Face Masks). And if you really want to get rid of those wrinkles, you might consider lasers, Botox or fillers.

How to Conceal Sagging Skin

As we age, we may begin to notice a big change taking place under the chin. And I'm not talking about excessive growth of chin hairs. You may develop a turkey wattle or you might what you consider a double chin. Either way, you might want to conceal it. You could see a plastic surgeon and have lipo under your chin or a facelift, but if you don't want to spend the cash or endure surgery, there are inexpensive ways to conceal sagging skin and a crepe-y neck.

How to Conceal Droopy Eyelids Without Surgery

Drooping eyelids are another natural part of the aging process but there's no need to invest in eyelid surgery. You can spend thousands on an eyelift or you can try these beauty tips that cost nothing. Find out how in How to Conceal Droopy Eyelids Without Surgery.

Thinning or Bushy Eyebrows

I'm a stickler for good brows and am known for making my friends let me tweeze theirs. Keeping your brows done nicely is like having a facelift without surgery, according to author Charla Krupp's brow guy. Here are some tips for perfect brows:
  • Get your brows professionally done. Nothing opens eyes up like curled lashes and neat brows. If you can't afford waxing or threading every few weeks, use the professional's job as a map for your own tweezing. Simply pluck the stray hairs that grow in between professional tweezing or waxing. How to pluck your own brows.
  • Drawn-in brows are a no-no. You know the pencil-thin line you see some of your friends or women in your town wear? Well, they only age you and they're somewhat tacky. Learn how to properly fill in sparse brows.
  • Avoid tweezing gray brow hairs. Instead, conceal them with a brow powder or pencil.

Thinning Lips

Personally, I love a thin lip. I read somewhere once that it's a sign of intelligence. As we age, our lips lose some of their fat. Here's how to plump up thin lips.
  • Picking the right lip color is a must. Makeup artist Bobbi Brown suggests skipping the bright colors and opt for a color that's just a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color. Check out 16 Lipstick Tricks and Tips.
  • As you age, your natural lip line fades. Create a lip line by coloring in lips first with a lip liner, then apply gloss or lipstick over the liner.
  • Consider getting rid of lipstick and using lip gloss instead. Gloss creates the illusion of puffed-up lips, especially when applied to the middle of lips.
  • Lip plumpers do work, but the effects don't last long (we're talking under an hour). So skip the plumpers and save your money. Even Vaseline on lips will make them appear larger."

Quick Smokey Eye Makeup | For Fall

Quick Smokey Eye Tutorial!

This article and tutorial is from makeupblog.janeiredale

Smoky eyes are everywhere for fall, and the look has never been fresher because they are being done in every shade from classic charcoal to soft browns, and even vibrant shades like plum or teal. Smoky eyes is not a color, it is a technique; or rather many techniques.

Here is one of my favorites from makeup artist Christian McNally. It looks fierce and only takes about five minutes. Have faith. it may look like a hot mess when you are halfway through, but it comes together magically in the end. Blending is the key!

  • Start by smoothing a tiny bit of Lemon Lid Primer over the whole lid, lash line to brow. Blend well with your finger tips or the Camouflage Brush.
  • Next, apply coordinating eye Pencil: For example, Black/Brown works well with brown or plum smoky eyes; Black or Black/Grey works with charcoal or teal. Draw a thick line across the upper lash line, going about half way up the lid towards the crease. Draw another line under the lower lashes, from inner to outer corner. Connect the two lines at the outer corner, and don't worry about being neat.
  • Blend the Pencil well with the Small Fluff Brush to a soft, edgeless finish. One thing I have learned is to blend with a very light touch. It may take longer, but otherwise I end up blending off the makeup I just applied!
  • Take your desired shade of PurePressed Eyeshadow Triple. Apply the medium shade to the outer two-thirds of the upper lid with the Crease Brush. The crease can stay clean for this look; concentrate the color on the lid and lash line.
  • Apply the lightest shade on the inner third on the upper lid with the same brush and blend the two together with your clean Crease Brush (simply wipe it off on a tissue).
  • With the Mini Dome Brush, use the darkest shade in the trio to intensify everywhere you placed the eye Pencil. Blend well.
  • Again with the Crease Brush, highlight with a little bit of Oyster (shimmery) or Bone (matte) PurePressed Eye Shadow in the inner corner of the eye at the sides of the nose, and on the brow bone. Blend well.
  • Line the inner rim (waterline) of the upper and lower lash line with Liner. Use the same liner or try Black for fierce drama, or Midnight Blue to really whiten the whites of your eyes.
  • Apply PureLash Extender & Conditioner to upper and lower lashes to condition lashes and add volume and length. While it is still damp, follow with several coats of Longest Lash Mascara in Black Ice.
Now with eyes this intense, please keep the cheeks and lips soft and neutral. The one exception for this fall might be a subtle pop of hot pink. Use a light hand and try Clarity In Touch Cream Blush on the cheeks and Sugar Plum PureGloss on the lips

Open Your Eyes to the Magic of Eyeliner

Today's Guest Author is Janet Martin.

If you are going to put on makeup, you have to make sure that what you are applying is complimenting your looks and making you more beautiful. There is really no point in spending time to apply makeup if it will just ruin your pretty face.

One makeup that a lot of women don't know how to handle is the eyeliner. Just look around you and you will see that many women look fiercer, out of style, or simply untidy whenever they use eyeliner. Do not commit the same mistakes that these women are guilty of; read on and learn how to use this makeup accessory more effectively.

Types of Eyeliner

Pencil-

The most popular type of eyeliner is the pencil. You probably have seen and used this one. The pencil eyeliner is very easy to use and quite versatile. You can use this practically for any occasion. Just be sure to choose a soft eye pencil, especially if you are just starting to learn how to apply a liner, because you don't want to hurt your eyes with hard-tipped pencil eyeliner.

Liquid-

Of all the eyeliner types, the liquid eyeliner is the most difficult to control because of its fluid consistency. You need to have a steady hand in order to achieve a flawless finish when using the liquid type because it can smudge easily. Once you have mastered its use, however, the lines created by liquid eyeliners are brighter, more pronounced and a whole lot clearer.

Felt-tip-

This is another type that is easy to use. A felt-tip liner is sort of a fusion between a liquid and pencil eyeliner. It's got the ease of application of a pencil liner and the consistency of the liquid type.

Cake-

Before, only master artists know about cake eyeliners. Fortunately for women of today, the popularity of cake eyeliners has increased so there are many manufacturers who make them now. This is the best type to use if you want to have smoky eyes. If you don't want to invest in an expensive cake eyeliner, you can always use your eyeshadow to do the trick. Just make sure that you use a small brush to make things easier for you when applying lines on your eyelids.

Eyeliner Application Tips

Dozens of women apply eyeliner by pulling the outer area of their eyes. This is one mistake that you have to avoid. Not only will this practice contribute to eye wrinkles, you will also end up with jagged lines on your eyes when your skin goes back to the right position. The best way to put eyeliner is by gently pulling up the center part of your eyelid. This will give you a good view of the area and will also help in drawing a straighter line.

If you are just starting to experiment with using eyeliner, it would be best to choose a shade that is on the light side like brown for a more natural look. Leave the darker shades and kohl to makeup professionals.

Remember not to use liquid eyeliner for lining your lower eyelids. If you have to line your lower lids, it would be better to use a cake or pencil liner. If you don't want to look like you've stepped out of a 60's magazine, do not create thick lines. Not only will these make your eyes look fierce, but they will also highlight your flaws and make you look tired.

Lastly, you should remember to take care of the skin around your eyes. No amount of eyeliner or makeup tricks can conceal dark circles, fine lines and puffy eyes. To protect the health of your eye area, always remember to remove eye makeup before going to sleep. Lastly, use eye cream regularly. This will help protect this sensitive area and correct eye problems, such as eye bags, fine lines and skin discoloration. One eye cream that you can try is Eyevive. Eye Makeup Tips

Eye makeup is one of the last few steps involved in the makeup application routine. It is a step that completes the makeup preparation, for often a little foundation and eye makeup is all you would need to pull of a glamorous and exciting look. It is the eye makeup routine of the entire makeup application process that really brings out the beauty of the makeup, also could make the difference between a natural look, an exotic look, or a demure but sexy look. Eye makeup comprises of all the makeup and makeup accessories that you would use to decorate or highlight your eyes.

Eye Makeup Tips

Before you learn how to apply makeup, you need to know what kind of makeup you're applying. There's makeup for the face, eyes, eyebrows and lips. You certainly don't have to use makeup on all of your facial features, but you can. If you decide to use facial makeup, or concealer, make sure to get a concealer shade that matches your face. If you're concealer is too dark or too pale, it will stand out. If you have nice skin, you can bypass concealer or, you can apply it to areas that contain blemishes.

Formal eye makeup tips will allow you to look glamorous. You need to know just how to apply makeup correctly, to achieve the desired, finished look. Learning how to put on eye makeup does not have to be a difficult process either. Here are several key steps to make your wedding or prom pictures truly amazing.

Use your fingers for working the foundation on one area of your face. It is better if you are moving your fingers in circular motion, and after you have finished this finger-walk, you can use sponge for the final working of the foundation.

Techniques of Eye Makeup

It doesn't matter the size or shape your eyes, with the proper makeup techniques you can change the shape of your eyes. You can make your eyes appear bigger, wider and even more dramatic with these simple easy tips. Do you have small eyes? Use pale color up to the crease, contour crease with a dark, smoky color, smudging often.

Apply your foundation first over your entire face before you start on your eye makeup. You need a good canvas to work with.

Choose an eyelid sparkler in soft, metallic cream and dab a smidgen of it on your lids. Then sweep a pressed powder eye shadow in metallic copper also on your lids to add a dark, sexy glaze. Use a clear mascara to lengthen your lashes. You want to keep the attention to your eyes, so a touch of champagne gold lipstick will be enough to complete the look.

Apply an eye shadow primer from lash to brow to make your eye makeup last. You can skip this step if you prefer. Using a makeup brush or eye shadow sponge, apply the medium shade from lashes to the crease of your eyelid.

How to Apply Eyeshadow

How to apply eyeshadow is potentially a problematic area for many women as part of their daily makeup routine.
Perhaps the biggest problem is the learning curve involved to understand how to apply eyeshadow to best enhance your eyes and make them a feature of your desired look.

The key is applying your eyeshadow to make your eyes the focal point not the area around them. For a better understanding on what eyeshadow is best to suit the individual needs you should pop down to a makeup counter. Most of these make up counters in department stores offer a free makeup consultation on the products you're a looking for.

Time spent early on practicing how to apply eyeshadow to create your perfect results for both the day and night looks will make your application quicker for your daily routine.

Eyeshadow now comes in many styles and finishes. It is available in creams, powders, liquid and pencils.

You can test eye shadow colors on the back of your hand or your inner wrist, but do keep in mind that the way a color looks in the store may not be the way it looks on your eyes or in natural light due to the shop lighting effecting colors.

Learning how to apply eyeshadow is going to be down to trial and error to start, while you learn what works and does not.

To start you should grab the following items of make up.

Eyeshadow (light, medium, and dark shades that suit your complexion)

Makeup Brushes
Eyeliner
Mascara

When To Throw Out Old Makeup

Author: Debrah Dragon

Every woman on earth buys and uses makeup to look beautiful. Makeup prices can range from the ultra cheap to the very expensive branded products that only the elite can afford. However not many women realize that makeup can also and does expire and when that happens no matter how expensive that makeup is you are supposed to dispose of it immediately. Bad or expired makeup can cause a lot of trouble on your skin, so you need to be careful to read the expiration label on your makeup box.

What women should know, but many do not know is that their makeup can literally become too old. Some women never have to worry about their makeup becoming too old because they wear it so often that they replace it regularly. However, some people who have a large load of makeup or only wear it every so often tend to hoard their face makeup for far too long.

Many women will keep the same lipstick, the same eyeliner, the same blush, the same eye shadow, lip liner, and mascara for years and never even realizing that it could be dangerous. What you may not realize is that face makeup that is old tends to hold dangerous bacteria that can be harmful to both your health and your skin.

Therefore it is essential to know when face makeup becomes too old to use and when it is time to throw away, and then replace with new. Use this guide to help you sort through your makeup bag and determine what to keep and what to throw away.

Not many of us know when we purchased our makeup, particularly if we don't purchase it very often. A good tip for that is to take a marker and mark in an area of the makeup the month and year that it was purchased. This can be a great way to remember when it is time to throw away. An alternative is to mark the month and year that it should be thrown away, this saves you from having to figure it out later.

Eye Shadow and Eye Liners - The general rule with eye shadow and liners is that if it is liquid, it should be replaced a maximum of six months after purchase. For liner pencils and powder eye shadows, these should be replaced within a year.

If you have gotten an infection of the eye, you should make sure you immediately throw all eye makeup away and purchase new.

• Lipstick - Your lipstick should be thrown away two years after purchase. If the smell or color changes, or you happen to noticed beads of oil building up on the bullet of the lipstick it is time to throw it away.

• Loose Powder - Loose powders should be thrown away a year after purchase.

• Concealer and Foundation - Both foundation and concealers should be thrown out six months after purchase. However, if you notice a funny smell or separation of the liquid you should throw it out immediately.

Powder Blush- Powder blush should be discarded a year after purchase. If you happen to know clumping or flaking of the blush, then you should throw it out and replace it.

• Mascara - Mascara has the least amount of shelf life. It should without a doubt be thrown out three months after purchase.

Your overall health and skin health depends on your makeup and sorting through it routinely. So the next time you go over to the store to buy your makeup make sure to look for the expiration date on the box or bottle of the product. This will ensure that the makeup you buy has a long enough expiration period that will allow you to finish the product before it expires.

Tips for Teenagers

The 12 top makeup tips for teenagers
Author: Vivian Timson

When children reach a certain age, they are likely to experiment with cosmetics and wish to be more beautiful just like the adults in their families. So, for their benefit, here are some make up tips for teenagers that they would surely learn from.

Most of today's teens get the thrill and excitement out of their experiments especially in line with beautifying themselves, they can typically be misled to use the incorrect makeup.

Little do they know that without the proper knowledge, they can be led into a serious trouble. Below are the significant makeup tips for teenagers to follow.

The first makeup tip for teenagers is meant to let them realize that the more natural and lighter their cosmetic is, the better it is going to be for them. They should not rush into making themselves look older than their real ages. They are young so their skin's natural glow must be maintained. Hence, the subtle, gentle, and safe cosmetic products ought to be utilized. The natural skin tone needs to be considered when selecting the color to be used. Among the hues that can commonly boost up their beauty include brown, pink, coral, and gray. The skin flaws can be covered up through the use of the concealing cream or concealing pencil. However, it should perfectly match the skin tone. The skin's dark circles, scars, acnes, and other imperfections can be made invisible with the natural looking concealer.

Another important make up tip for teenagers is the employment of the black or brown mascara to further emphasize the black eyelashes. The soft pink shade of blush is best for the cool skin undertone whereas the peach shade of blush works better for the warm skin undertone. Using a cotton ball can blend them well. The eyes must be applied with the right eye makeup that would make them glow and shine. There are a lot of light eye shadow or eye pencil shades that can enliven the eyes.

When in doubt or at a loss, it is going to be best to consult and seek the help of the beauty experts from the salon or read fashion magazines for more makeup tips for teenagers. Apply it like a ProAs neophytes, they don't know much about the use of the cosmetic products. Hence, these makeup tips for teenagers are going to work and help them out apply the product like a professional.

Step 1. Use a cleansing and hydrating cream or lotion that is free from oil components onto the face and neck. Its role is to better hydrate the area so that the makeup would stick on really well.

Step 2. Using the forefinger, apply a small quantity of foundation on the forehead, the nose, the cheeks, the hairline, jaw line, and the neck.

Step 3. Apply little concealer around the area of the eyes and then smudge it carefully.

Step 4. Using a bigger brush, apply a little amount of powder under the eyes to smudge the concealer. Leave it for a while and do some retouching after the application of the eye shadow.

Makeup Application Tips

How to Apply Professional Makeup
Author: Alien

Applying make-up should not be difficult. Mineral Makeup forms a protective barrier on your skin while still allowing your skin to breath. Mineral Make up gives a lightweight natural feel that allows your skin to breathe, unlike talc-based products that can clog pores and damage skin.

For makeup application, there are several different ways. But for me, I do one of the following makeup application techniques depending on my mood, time and color choices.

Make up Application Tips

1. Do not apply white or black shadows to your eyes.

2. Applying lipstick - Cool pink lipstick should be applied with a lipbrush. If you like, you can slick a little lipgloss or lip balm on the top for a sexy shimmer look.

3. Apply a light color all over the lid. Use a darker shade for your upper, outer lid.

4. Brushes should not be so stiff that they scratch the face, nor so soft as to be floppy and difficult to control.

5. Apply lip liner to completely cover the lips, add color and your lipstick will stay on much longer.

6. Your hair color should also be in harmony with your skin. If you have dark hair and you want to add color, keep it close to the same shade. If you have light hair, use light colors. As you age your skin will lighten, so should your hair color. One last thing about hair color - if you do color you hair be sure you keep it up, don't let your roots show.

7. Keep makeup looking fresh all day by doing regular touch ups.

8. Powder blush is best for oily and combo skin.

9. The purpose of eye shadow is to shape and accentuate the eye, not color it. Do not overuse eye shadow. The face looks more attractive when you use natural colors

10. Never go to bed with your makeup on. When the makeup is left on overnight it will clog the pores. It prevents the skin from shedding and may cause blemishes and/or blackheads. The skin needs to breathe overnight.

Blush
Smile, take a blush brush and apply a shade of blush to your cheeks. After this part, sweep the brush back into the hairline. This will make your face glow.

This is the basics of make-up application. There are many colors and tools to experiment. Find your look and remember, applying make-up is an art which makes you look your best.

Now of course this is not the only way to apply makeup but the way I believe works the best. However if you want to play up the lips by using a brighter or darker shade of lipstick then do your lips first and eyes last. This way you won't over power the other.

Removing Makeup

Beautiful Tips for Makeup Removal
Author: Peter Hutch

Make up removers are very important for the skin to keep it clean and away from the after affects of the make up. If make up isn't removed after the use then it enters into the pores and the chemicals in the make up can damage the skin. So one should always make it a point to remove the make up from the skin while going to bed and let the skin breathe.

Facial make up as foundation and lipsticks can be easily removed with water based make up cleansers but eye make up as liners, kohl and mascara needs something extra. They require more of oil in the remover solution to remove the stubborn eye make up.

Eye makeup remover will make washing the products off your face at the end of the day a hassle-free experience. If you are in the habit of using soap, you may find that not only is soap drying, it also usually requires scrubbing and multiple washes, which can irritate the skin.

Baby shampoo is an excellent way to remove mascara that is resistant to other kinds of removers. Waterproof mascara can be one of the most difficult mascaras to remove as it is designed for staying power and a little bit of baby shampoo applied to a cotton ball or your finger tips should do the tricky nicely. Baby shampoos contain lower concentrations and softer detergents than other shampoos which makes them less irritating to the eye area. Baby shampoo can also be used to remove makeup on the face but use a very small amount as too much can be drying to the skin.

Best alternative for oily and all sin types:if you don't want to use any oil on your face for removing make up,best way is to dip cotton balls in raw milk and just wipe your face with it. It is the cheapest way of removing makeup.
Mineral oil is best for removing make up. It is even cheaper than baby oil. Since, baby oil is nothing more than mineral oil with fragrance and both give same results.

Always use a mild makeup remover. Nothing harsh or drying to the skin- and never use makeup remover that is specifically for your eyes on other parts of your face. This is particularly important if you suffer from oily skin as this can lead to break outs. Pay attention to what the label says as it specifies these things for a reason!

To remove makeup naturally without clogging pores and moisturize skin at the same time, use unrefined pure oils like jojoba, wheat germ or rose hip oil. Massage it directly into your skin or wipe skin with a cotton pad saturated with the oil. Finish by gently wiping skin with a steamy, damp cloth.

Using a dry towel or absorbent pad press on the stain to draw moisture and stain particles out of the surface area. Continue this pattern using an alternating combination of saturation and pressure until the stain is removed. If the stain still remains you may want to try flushing the area with water and adding a few drops of ammonia. This will further help to draw out the stain. Cover it with a towel or absorbent pad and allow it to absorb the stain.

Formal Eye Makeup Tips

Formal Eye Makeup Tips to Live By
Author: Oktay Ozadam

Formal eye makeup tips will allow you to look glamorous no matter if you are heading out for the biggest night of your life or if you are just hanging out with friends. To look glamorous, you need to know just how to apply makeup correctly, to achieve the desired, finished look. Learning how to put on eye makeup does not have to be a difficult process either. Here are several key steps to make your wedding or prom pictures truly amazing.

Pick A Look

Your first course of action is to pick a celebrity or look that you are after to mimic. Eye makeup ideas are hard to come up with on your own, but there are plenty of models out there for you to mimic. This is an eye makeup trick; mimic someone else's look. How will you know who to select? Choose someone that has the same skin tone and hair color as you. Check out what makeup products they are using too.

Pick A Feature

A huge mistake that many people make when it comes to formal make up is that they try to make each of their facial features a focal point. Choose either your eyes or your lips and then apply makeup to enhance that features. The makeup you use in the other area should be more subtle. Select the area of your face that is where you get the most compliments.

No Foundation?

Another formal eye make up trick is to skip the foundation but to use a concealer for blemishes. How does this affect your eye makeup? First off, those that are young are likely to have beautiful, glowing skin with no need for heavy foundations. For your eye makeup, allowing your natural skin tones to come through will allow your eyes to be more set off from the rest of your face. Less makeup everywhere else helps your eyes to stand out.

For bridal makeup, consider more natural and soft tones. The white of a wedding dress makes your skin darker looking. Less is more here. For proms and a night out on the town, look to more drastic and deep color combinations in your eye makeup. Do this to create an alluring look with your eyes.

Formal eye makeup tips like these can be easy to apply any day or night that you are planning out. You can get amazing eye makeup ideas from celebrities by paging through the web or watching Red Carpet footage. The bottom line is to find an amazing look that allows only your eyes to stand out. Eye makeup techniques like these are easy to learn. Practice makes perfect! For a formal look, enhance your eyes.

Being a Makeup Artist

Freelance Makeup Artist

The Basics
Author: Nedra Hines

I know you are anxious to begin working as a freelance makeup artist, but just in case you don't have the funds to attend school right now, you can still gain useful knowledge and experience. I've been working as a freelance makeup artist for about 5 years now, and even though it's hard work, I get to meet lots of different people and attend beautiful weddings. The most rewarding part for me is being able to "transform" the look of my clients. I just love it when they get excited and start smiling at the results.

The advice you receive from this article will help you get a descent start in getting the products you need, some clients to put in your chair, and to help you be more professional. Don't forget there is more than one way to gain the experience you need, and I'm presenting some ideas and lessons that have helped me along the way.

When I first started I remember reading books about makeup/beauty. What helped me was getting books with color pictures to demonstrate the techniques, and with detailed writing. Some books contain content that is very vague, so it's difficult to tell what is being done to the model's face, which is why detail is so important. Also, try to be diverse about the types of books you read. I read books about mature beauty, Asian beauty, and Latina beauty because I wanted to be aware of certain concerns those groups may have. Great places to get books are from online bookstores and the local library.

If you have the extra funds I totally recommend attending a seminar from a professional (or a celebrity) makeup artist. This is a great opportunity to help you network with other freelance makeup artists, and to see the makeup application process through someone else's eyes. It will help you improve your own work because you will receive some fresh ideas and information about great cosmetic products that are on the market.

Some items that you will need before getting started as a freelance makeup artist are a makeup case, makeup brushes, sample testers, a director's chair, and makeup of course. A great place to purchase these items would be Ebay, or your local beauty supply. The makeup case I use has wheels with an extended handle, and fold-out compartments. I've used it for all of my assignments, and I've had no problems traveling with it. In regards to makeup brushes, make sure you opt for a set that isn't too expensive, and will last a while - preferably sable or squirrel. Some examples of sample testers are individual mascara wands, lipstick applicators, and spatulas. These are so important to have because you want to prevent the transfer of bacteria from one client to the next. Pencil sharpeners are essential too for lip and eyeliners. Use it to shave off the used portion after dealing with each client.

You will use a director's chair when seating your clients. I'm tall, so I find it incredibly useful. It's also easy to fold and place in the trunk of my car. When collecting makeup, always start with basic, very diverse shades and colors. This will help in case you're ever in a situation where you have to mix two different colors to get the desired color you need. The brand you use is up to you, but make sure you have the basics.

Some other good pointers would be to start with family and friends first. When you're first starting out, you're going to make mistakes, so it's easier to use people who are close to you as your guinea pigs. They're a lot less critical, and I'm sure they'll make recommendations on how you can improve. Also, expose yourself to other artists that have different strengths. I say this because every freelance makeup artist has a different interpretation of what a certain look should be. I've known makeup artists that were wonderful at dramatic makeup, stage makeup, and bridal makeup. The more you learn from different people, the more diverse your techniques will be, which will improve your ability.

Last, but certainly not least, be professional. If you have a scheduled assignment, please be on time. Know that the bulk of your business will come from referrals, so you want to leave a good impression with your clients. If you have a client that is getting married and you have to work on location, dress appropriately for the wedding. Always wear an outfit that is classy, but that you can easily move around in. I tend to do a lot of walking when I'm on location, so it helps that my clothes aren't restrictive. Don't forget to bring your business cards with you to every event. Always pass them out so that others will have your information and can contact you if they need anything. Have fun and good luck on your glamorous journey!

Long Lasting Makeup

Great Tips to Make Your Makeup Last!
Author: Anne McNealy

We invest in expensive makeup, we read up on how to perfectly apply it, and we take the time every morning to put it on with perfect precision. We do this, so that we can cover up those fine lines and wrinkles without looking like we're wearing makeup. We do this so that we can achieve that perfect moist and dewy look without our skin looking oily. So that we can add that subtle, yet vibrant boost of color to our eyes, making them stand out, and so that we can achieve those perfect lips- plump and pouty without being too whorish looking.

And isn't it disappointing when you dedicate all that time to achieve the seemingly impossible, only to have your makeup slide off your face a few hours later?

Well ladies, keep reading, because below I've included some fabulous makeup tricks on how to get long lasting makeup -so that it stay on all day long or all evening out!

Let's start with the very basics - moisturizer. Its important to properly hydrate your skin before applying makeup,as your makeup needs something to stick to (for those of you with oily skin, it's best to use an oil free moisturizer). You do not want to apply your makeup right after, as you need to provide your skin with enough time to properly absorb the moisture, otherwise your makeup will simply slide right off. Therefore, it's best to wait 10 - 20 minutes first.

The next step is to apply a makeup primer. Primers provide a clean 'base' to your makeup and absorb excess oils, providing your makeup with long lasting power. They also have built in moisturizing power, so unless your skin is particularly dry, you can actually use a primer in place of a moisturizer. Some of the popular ones include NARSmakeup primer (which has the added benefit of built in SPF 20), Smashbox photo finish foundation primer, or Naked Minerals Neroli setting mist- which is actually sprayed on after makeup application, rather than before, and provides you with a radiant glow.

After the primer, apply a liquid foundation. Oil based foundations tend to provide better coverage than the oil free ones, however they also slide off more quickly. So unless you really need the heavy coverage, opt for an oil-free foundation. I find that the "mousse" consistency foundations also stay on quite well, like Biotherm.

To ensure that your foundation is set in place, dust a light layer of loose powder on top. This helps "seal" in your makeup and blot any excess oils that may develop, providing your makeup with long lasting power.

If you have really oily skin, you might want to try carrying around oil blotting pads (clean and clear makes excellent cheap ones). By blotting up excessive oil throughout the day, you'll help stop your makeup from "sliding off" your face, keeping it in place, where it belongs!

Next, choose a blush. Your best option is cheek stain, it stays on the longest. Cheek stain can provide some pretty powerful color though, and it can also be a bit difficult to spread. In which case the next great alternative is a powder based blush, as those tend to stay on much longer than cream blushes. If you choose to use bronzer instead of brush, also go for the powder version over any of the creamy or liquid options.

After applying blush, head up toward the eyes. For eye shadow that stays on all day long, try prepping your lids first with an eye primer - like Benefit Cosmetics FY eye, or moisturizer, and then dab on a light layer of foundation to follow. Wait for it set and then apply your eyeshadow. This should make it last double as long!

If you use eyeliner, although eye pencil will provide you with a slightly more natural look, liquid eyeliner will stay on the longest.

When applying mascara, opt for a waterproof one - you never know when you might feel the need to cry, or when it may just start raining. Make sure to apply multiple coats for thicker lashes and la long lasting stay.

And finally, your lips. Avoid using lip-balm right before applying lip color- it makes your makeup slide right off. Apply lip pencil all around the edges and then color in the insides with pencil too. Dab on a drop of foundation to fill in the cracks, and then brush on loose powder to set. Proceed to apply your lipstick as usual.

Matte lipsticks are preferred. While they may be drying, they tend to stay on much longer then their "moisture providing" counterparts. If you're looking a "wet" finish, you might want to apply a layer of sheer gloss on top.

And now you're finished - so relax and enjoy! There are a million things you have to worry about or remember throughout the day, but reapplying your makeup is simply not one of them!

Author: Johnsmith

Eye makeup is one of the last few steps involved in the makeup application routine. It is a step that completes the makeup preparation, for often a little foundation and eye makeup is all you would need to pull off a glamorous and exciting look. It is the eye makeup routine of the entire makeup application process that really brings out the beauty of the makeup.

You can make your eyes appear bigger, wider and even more dramatic with these simple easy tips.Do you have small eyes?
